Selecting the Right Study Program in Russia

Russia is known worldwide for its high-quality education and diversity of academic studies it offers. To get into the right program, one must begin researching and preparing for the same few months sooner.

Know your Interest and Research

Figure out your interest area and accordingly research for that course or subject area. Check the official websites of the University, Institutes or Colleges for admission requirements, courses offered, dates and deadlines. List down the Universities, or Educational Institutions that offer programs of your choice as well as check whether you meet their admission standards or not.

Campus Visits

Visit their respective campus; know more about the course and the institution. Talk to the faculty and students and ask any questions if you have.

Final Decision - Apply

After thorough research and visits, make a final call. While getting to the final decision, keep in mind following things: affordability, distance, finances, level of immersion and most importantly, your aims and goals.
Once you have decided on the course and Institution, apply on time. Check with the University or institute for admission requirements and documents required.

For Bachelor’s and Specialist Programs:

Completion of 12 years of schooling with good grades is mandatory to get in a bachelor course of study. The main documents required for entry into a bachelor course of study are - your upper secondary school-leaving certificate (original or a notarized copy).

For Master’s Program:

The students must have 16 years of education for admittance to a Master’s program. The students must have completed 4-year Bakalavr or a Specialist diploma for admission in Master’s program. 

For Doctoral Studies:

The students must have a Master’s degree for admittance to a Doctoral studies.
International students seeking admission to a higher education institution in the Russian Federation must have a certificate of maturity confirming that they have completed upper secondary education. Besides, they must submit a medical certificate confirming their good state of health. 

Russian Language Requirement -

It is mandatory for international students to take the Test of Russian as a Foreign Language (TORFL) test if you wish to study in Russia. The minimal level of competence in the Russian language required for admittance in the University is TORFL (TRKI) CEFR level 1 (B1).

English Language Requirement -

English language requirements vary by course and department. The accepted English language tests scores are
  • TOEFL-Test of English as a Foreign Language
  • IELTS Academic-International English Language Testing System
You will be issued a letter of confirmation upon acceptance stating that the University accepts the admission of the student.

Apply for Financial Aid and Visa -

Once you are through with the above steps, now apply for financial aid and Visa. The Russian Federation awards scholarships to students. Make sure that you apply on time for Visa.
